Honda Japan has announced details of its new Hunter Cub CT125, the latest evolution of its long-serving Super Cub family that the company says is, "appropriate for outdoor leisure use".
Unveiled recently on the Honda Japan website in the wake of the COVID-19-cancellation of both the Osaka and Tokyo Motorcycle Shows, the Honda Hunter Cub CT125 retains the same basic architecture and drivetrain of the existing Super Cub, but with extra suspension travel and ground clearance and an upswept muffler.
A bash plate has also been added, while the brakes have been updated with a single disc set-up at each end – with a twin-piston caliper up front and a single-piston unit down the back.
With an emphasis on rugged durability and simplicity, the 2020 Honda Hunter Cub CT125 is powered by a 124cc, air-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder engine, with drive to the rear wheel delivered via centrifugal clutch and chain final drive.
Honda Japan says the new variant "asserts a unique presence that strikes a balance between the functional and tough image", with the model reverting back to the more minimalist CT110 design of some years back, sans leg shield. The Honda Hunter Cub CT125 is available in two colour schemes: Glowing Red and Matt Fresco Brown.
We reckon it would be a hoot to hit the local trails on, and we know there are plenty of Honda CT fanatics in Australia who would agree. It's a pity then, that at this stage Honda Japan says it only intends to sell the model in its domestic market, with annual production of 8000 units . To that end, the 2020 Honda Hunter Cub is due to hit Japanese showrooms in late June priced from 440,000 Yen (approximately $A6600).
