Crankt Protein Honda Racing and CDR Yamaha have announced their line-ups for the 2017 Aussie motocross and supercross season.
Former Suzuki rider Todd Waters and 2014 MX2 motocross champion Luke Clout will replace Dylan Long and Jay Wilson at Crankt Protein Honda Racing, while Long will join Dean Ferris at CDR Yamaha.
Waters is a three-time runner-up in the Australian Motocross Championship, and has represented Australia at the Motocross of Nations four times. He said: “Joining Crankt Protein Honda Racing for the 2017 motocross and supercross season is really exciting.
"We have a great team of people that are hungry for success and ready to help me achieve my goals for 2017. The new model Honda CFR450R looks fantastic and I am stoked to be one of the riders representing this all new bike. Bring on 2017.”
Managing the Honda operation will be former long-tie Suzuki collaborator Jay Foreman.
Meanwhile, Long joins CDR Yamaha with strong support from team principal Craig Dack.
“When I went in search of a rider for the 2017, my criteria was for the rider to be talented, self-motivated and energetic that will bring that youthful enthusiasm to the team. But most of all, someone who we think we can help mould into a successful racer and Dylan fits that list perfectly,” said Dack.
“We didn’t want to go down the path of recycling older riders as we felt an injection of youth and someone who just loves riding and racing a dirt bike would rub off on the team and Dylan was the obvious choice. He has raced Yamahas before, knows the YZ450F well and we welcome him back to the brand.
“It will be challenge but it’s one that CDR Yamaha and Dylan are both excited to take on and we look forward to working with a young, talented rider that wants to claw his way to the top."
Round one of the 2017 MX Nationals will be held in March at Wonthaggi (Vic).
