Aussie Chris Holder has been awarded one of four permanent wildcards to compete in the 2018 Speedway Grand Prix series, where he will join countryman and recently crowned world champion Jason Doyle.
Holder finished 10th in a tough 2017 SGP campaign, with only the top eight guaranteed direct qualification for 2018. However, the SGP Commission has given the 2012 world champion a reprieve alongside four-time world champion Greg Hancock, triple winner Nicki Pedersen and Slovak star Martin Vaculik.
Six-time Danish champion Niels-Kristian Iversen could also play a part in the 2018 SGP series, after being named as first series reserve. He will be called up in the event any of the regular 15 stars are forced out of a round due to injury, illness or other reasons.
Aussie Max Fricke has been named as the fifth series reserve.
