According to the folk who ran it: More than a thousand of the riders began their journey over a week ago making their way to the event in groups from respective H.O.G Rally chapters across the country.
Alan Doherty, of the Illawarra Chapter, has been riding for more than 40 years and has attended 11 of the 16 HOG Rallies. He left Sydney four days before the event to head north with 90 of his bikie buddies and his grandson Aaron (see pic of Alan).
"I've spent the past week with my son, daughter in law and two grandkids making our way up the east coast of Australia from Sydney on our Harley-Davidson motorcycles. We've thoroughly enjoyed the rally at Airlie Beach and look forward to the ride home during the next four days," Alan said.
HOG Manager Jolynn Miller said this year's event was particularly unique for a few reasons – the location, weather and local community members.
"Not only was the weather ideal - the local Airlie Beach residents and businesses that catered to the HOG Rally crowd were remarkable.
"The locals really clicked with H.O.G members from all over the world and some great relationships were formed," Jolynn said.
