Highly-limited 2021 KTM 450 Rally Replica revealed

The 2021 KTM 450 Rally Replica is an exclusive production version of the Austrian manufacturer's Dakar-winning machine

KTM has unveiled the 2021 450 Rally Replica with a local price tag of $55,995. The limited edition model is restricted to just 85 units worldwide, making it a highly prized machine.

The limited production version of KTM’s Dakar-winning 450 Rally has been available to Australia customers for the past few years, but with limited availability, KTM Australia are never able to guarantee how many units will actually reach Australian shores.

“There are no set number of bikes for Australia,” explained KTM’s Rosie Lalonde. “The 85 units are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, hence the push for customers to get their pre-orders in quick!”

The 2021 KTM 450 Rally Replica is based on the Dakar Rally winning machine ridden by Toby Price, Matthias Walkner and Sam Sunderland, with all three having direct input into the limited production bike. The bike will arrive in Australia with full ADR compliance.

While many ‘race replicas’ are based around cosmetics rather than performance, the KTM 450 Rally Replica is a true derivative of the factory machine, with many privateers piloting the machine in the Dakar Rally.

It is powered by a 450cc SOHC fuel-injected engine, which has been refined for 2021, with a new gearbox and revised shift mechanism. The re-worked transmission utilises the same ratios as the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team. An Akrapovic exhaust is designed to work with the engine, and also airbox, which sits above the engine for increased airflow.

A competition-based chassis features a high-tech and lightweight chromoly steel trellis frame. The rear self-supporting 16L fuel tank (there is a main tank too!) doubles as a subframe.

KTM has also included refined WP XACT PRO 48mm closed-cartridge fork with sophisticated Cone-Valve technology, as well as a fully adjustable WP XACT PRO shock. And with ‘purposeful aerodynamics and ergonomics’, the bike is well setup for supreme handling on a wide variety of terrain. The bike weighs in at 139kg wet and has a 960mm seat height.

The KTM 450 Rally was introduced in 2011 as a modified KTM 690 Rally. This was due to a rule change by Dakar organisers which allowed only bikes under 450cc to compete. It was redesigned in 2014 and received another major update in 2019. The 450 Rally has accounted for 9 of KTM’s 18 Dakar Rally titles.

Customers can now pre-order the 2021 KTM 450 Rally Replica, but as above, numbers are extremely limited and supply to Australia cannot be guaranteed. Speak to your KTM dealer or visit www.ktm.com.au for more information.
