High-performance Voxan Wattman unveiled

The high-performance version of the Voxan Wattman will attempt to break the world speed record for an electric motorcycle

Voxan Motors has unveiled a high-performance version of its electric Wattman, which will attempt to break the world speed record in July, 2021.

After publishing a teaser last week, the Monaco-based manufacturer pulled the covers off the eye-catching machine, which will be piloted by former world champion, Max Biaggi.

Biaggi will ride the Wattman in an attempt to break the world speed record for electric motorcycles on the Salar de Uyuni salt flat in Bolivia. The current world record is 329.085km/h.

French manufacturer Voxan was purchased by Monegasque company, Venturi Motors, in 2010. It released the original Voxan Wattman in 2013, which boasted 203hp and 200Nm.

The new high-performance version of the Wattman has been entirely developed in Monaco in collaboration with Venturi North America and the Centre for Automotive Research at Ohio State University.

On-track testing of the motorcycle originally commenced in March, but the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the programme being halted. Now that restrictions have been lifted in Monaco, the testing programmed has been ramped up.
