While the pandemic continues to create headaches for event organisers, there are still hopes to run the 2021 Australian Supercross Championship, with promoters announcing a multi-year deal with iconic brand Fox Racing.
In a bid to reinvigorate and rebrand the series after its absence in 2020, the promoters have secured Fox as the naming rights partner for 2021 onwards.

The 2021 series was originally due to kick off on October 16 in Queensland, but the current COVID-19 outbreak has put it on hold. The last supercross event in Australia was the 2019 AUS-X Open at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. The event attracted 35,000 fans and was the biggest supercross event on local soil to date.
Supercross rounds in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australian, New South Wales and Victoria had been confirmed for 2021, but the schedule will likely change due to the outbreak.
Organisers are determined to forge ahead, with an updated schedule expected in the coming weeks. “We have a number of contingency plans in place and a live schedule that we will announce once we have certainty around the latest Covid-19 outbreak,” said AUS SX Holdings’ Adam Bailey.

Motorcycling Australia’s Peter Doyle is excited to see the new-look championship come to life. “With no Supercross in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is excited to see the championship return for 2021 and beyond,” Doyle said. “To see Fox getting behind the Australian Supercross Championship this year speaks volumes of the prestige the series carries, which had been improving year on year prior to 2020.”
Fox Racing is one of the biggest and most-recognised action sports brands in the world, having started life in 1974 in Southern California as a motocross apparel company. Locally, Fox has been a big player in the motocross industry, most notably with Craig Dack’s CDR Yamaha team.
