New South Welshman Troy Herfoss will see out the balance of the 2014 Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) for Team Honda Racing, with the next round to be held at Mallala Motorsport Park (SA) on May 17-18.
Herfoss competed at Wakefield Park’s round one in March as a substitute for the injured Josh Hook, and will now join Hook, Wayne Maxwell and Jamie Stauffer as a permanent member for the final five rounds. The quartet is all aboard the CBR1000RR SP, which has won the last three world superbike races in the hands of Jonathan Rea.
“I am really pleased to have the chance to continue competing with Team Honda Racing," said Herfoss. "Round one at Wakefield Park went really well and I enjoyed working with the team.
"Now, to compete for the whole season knowing that I go to every race event with the most competitive bike and the most proven team in Australian road racing is just fantastic.
"The recent two-day test went (at Mallala) well, although I was a little cautious as I don’t know the circuit well and it was the first time for my mechanic, Jason and I to work together on our own. I have a lot left in me and we gained so much from the test. I believe we have what we need to be competitive at the front again at round two in a couple of weeks.”
Stauffer leads the ASC after round one, ahead of Glenn Allerton (BMW), Maxwell, privateer Sean Condon (Kawasaki) and Herfoss.
