Anyone who has been to Vietnam will know that overloading bikes and not wearing helmets is par for the course on city streets. But recently Hanoi’s traffic police began imposing fines on motorcycle riders who carry children without helmets. While the parents were busy with the fines, their kids were taken to school by the cops.
After a week of reminding people about kids wearing leds, on the morning of April 8 Hanoi’s traffic police began fining people.
Due to the backlog of offenders, mums and dads queuing to pay fines looked like making kids late for school, so some traffic cops took them to school (with helmets on) while their parents stayed to pay the fine. Wouldn't happen here.
