South Australian Mick Headland has successfully defended his FIM Track Racing Sidecar 1000cc World Championship in atrocious conditions at Coventry Stadium in England last Saturday.
Racing with his son Jesse, who was standing in for the injured Paul Waters, Headland won his first three races before the event was abandoned soon after.
The Headlands finished on 9pts, ahead of Gary Jackson/Henry Rogers (8pts) and Richard Moore/Ric McAuley (7pts). Sixteen teams were in action.
Headland now joins a select group of Australian who have won multiple world titles in the same discipline, including Mick Doohan (500 GP), Jason Crump (solo speedway) and Chad Reed (supercross).
Headland and Waters won last year's sidecar title in France.
