The courses will cost just $50 a head, thanks too a scheme put together by the Motor Accidents Insurance Board (which is providing funding) and the Tasmanian Motorcycle Council.
"It's never too late to learn new skills, refine the ones you might already have or even break bad habits that could be life threatening,” said HART Manager Mark Collins.
The sessions will run in Launceston on November 18-19 and in Hobart, November 25-26. There is funding for 380 riders.
Under the training scheme, Road Skills Refresher Courses will be made available to motorcyclists at a maximum cost to each participant of $50 with the remaining fee to be paid by the insurance board.
Bookings can be made by calling HART on (03) 9335 2799 or on-line booking at www.hartridertraining.com.au.
HART is also running a motorcycle awareness day at its Kilsyth (Melbourne) centre on September 24.
There will be numerous displays and activities on offer, plus discounts on training.
And if you happen to live in or near the ACT, this might interest you: The Motorcycle Riders Association (MRA) ACT in conjunction with the NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust and HART are presenting a unique series of on-road training courses for motorcyclists.
Ride 'n' Thrive focuses on risk management for discerning riders who want to perfect their road riding and harm minimisation skills.
The course concentrates on both thinking styles as well as low risk riding strategies, and is valuable for all riders no matter how experienced they may be.
The next eight-hour program will be conducted in Canberra on October 28 and 29, 2006, at a fee of only $90 (subsidies are provided by the NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust via the MRA ACT).
Space is limited to 12 participants only for each course which is overseen by two HART instructors.
The program concentrates on low speed handling skills, observation and anticipation techniques, road positioning, space selection, fatigue issues and risk management.
These skills are addressed via discussion, demonstration, practice and feedback during an on-road group ride covering 200-250 kms of varied city and rural environments.
