Harley party heads to Melbourne

Harley-Davidson has announced a packed schedule of 110th Anniversary celebrations around the world, which includes Melbourne

American cruiser heavyweight Harley-Davidson has unveiled a calendar of special events to celebrate its 110th anniversary next year and the festivities are heading our way, with the party set to grip Melbourne over April 12-14.

After the official celebrations began with 110th Anniversary Kickoff parties last week at European Bike Week in Faaker See, Austria, and at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, USA, a total of 10 110th Anniversary Experiences will be held in different countries around the globe, supporting the two major 110th Anniversary Celebrations in Rome, Italy, and Milwaukee, USA.

According to Harley-Davidson's Chief Marketing Officer, Mark-Hans Richter, the line-up of activities will add up to one massive global celebration.

“The 110th Anniversary will be the biggest in our history, celebrated by fans at events on almost every continent on the planet over the course of an entire year,” he said. “This is more than an anniversary event – it’s an epic celebration of the freedom that unites us all, and we invite everyone around the world to join in,” he added.

The party in Rome, Italy, will see activities conducted at three sites: at the Port of Ostia, at the Stadio Olympico, and in St Peter's Square in the Vatican City -- where a special bike blessing ceremony will be conducted by Pope Benedict XVI. The Milwaukee celebration will be The Big One, with a mega party at the Henry Maier Festival Park, a mass ride through downtown Milwaukee, activities at the Harley-Davidson Musuem and three massive concerts with some of the word's biggest acts.

Daytona Beach, Florida, USA (March 9-16, 2013): 110th Anniversary Experience at Daytona Bike Week
Melbourne, Australia (April 13-14, 2013): 110th Anniversary Experience
Margate, South Africa (April 26-28, 2013): 110th Anniversary Experience at Africa Bike Week
Qiandao Lake, Zhe Jiang Province, China (April 30-May 2, 2013): 110th Anniversary Experience

Melbourne's 110th Anniversary Experience will be staged in Williamstown, about 8km south-west of the city's CBD, from April 12-14.
