The Australian arm of Harley-Davidson is pioneering a loyalty program, which will reward customers for keeping their business at official dealerships around the country.
Customers who purchase a 2010 model Harley-Davidson will automatically receive the loyalty card, which will have a smart chip reader similar to credit cards.
The reader will keep tabs on money spent at a dealership(s), and once pre-determined points' levels are reached, they will be redeemable for products, accessories, clothing and/or servicing.
"There is no cost for the program, and it's not just limited to members of the Harley Owners Group," said Adrian O'Donoghue, the marketing manager at Harley-Davidson Australia. "This is a first for the company and we anticipate it will be a great success."
The loyalty card won't be just limited to new Harley buyers, so the best bet is to contact your local dealer for more information.
Meanwhile, Harley-Davidson has also announced a collaboration with Swann Insurance, which will offer especially 'tweaked' policies for H-D customers in Australia and New Zealand.
Speaking of New Zealand, the Tri Glide Ultra Classic trike will go on sale there in early December, with dealers already pre-selling most of them, albeit in low volume.
At this stage, there are no plans to sell the three-wheeler in Australia, with a couple of ADR obstacles to overcome, including the requirement for linked brakes.
