Harley-Davidson unveils updated CVO, Special models

New sound, new looks for Harley-Davidson's latest Custom Vehicle Operations range, plus fresh paint and more for a trio of bagger Specials…

While the biggest headlines from Harley-Davidson so far this year concern its new Harley-Davidson Street Bob 114 and the impending world launch of the all-new Harley-Davidson Pan America, the Motor Co has also tweaked its no-expense-spared CVO range and refreshed three of its hot-rod baggers.

Rockford Fosgate sound

All four CVO models – the Harley-Davidson CVO Limited, Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide, Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide and Harley-Davidson CVO Tri Glide trike – feature new paint and graphics, while the CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide also come with a new high-fidelity Stage II Harley-Davidson Audio system produced in collaboration with Rockford Fosgate.

The new sound system comprises Rockford Fosgate Stage II speakers and a Rockford Fosgate amplifier, and Harley-Davidson says they combine to offer "the highest-performing, most advanced audio system riders have ever experienced".

The CVO Limited and CVO Tri Glide continue with Boom! Stage I speakers, while all 2021 CVO models are powered by Harley-Davidson's Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-twin – the most powerful original-equipment engine offered by the American firm.

Drilling down a little further, the 2021 Harley-Davidson CVO range brings the following updates…

Extra bagger bling for new Specials

Harley-Davidson has also freshened up its range of 'Special' baggers: the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special, Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special, and Harley-Davidson Road King Special.

The 2021 Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special come with a chrome option and a two-tone paint option.

Either model can now be ordered with either chrome or dark treatments on a range of components, including powertrain covers, handlebar, exhaust and tank console, among others, while the Street Glide Special is available for the first time in a two-tone Gauntlet Gray Metallic/Vivid Black scheme, in addition to a range of solid colours.

The Street Glide Special also features a new low-profile engine guard, a Daymaker LED headlamp, a low-profile console, and a new tank medallion. The new engine guard mounts nearly 28cm lower than a standard Touring model guard and has additional forward sweep to provide more room around the brake and gearshift levers.

The Road Glide Special also comes with a choice of chrome or dark finishes and the option of two-tone paint (Billiard Red/Vivid Black), plus the new low-profile engine guard, console and tank medallion. It already had dual Daymaker LED headlamps.
