Harley-Davidson revisits 1960s with 2021 Electra Glide Revival

The Motor Company has launched its ultra-exclusive Icons Collection

In a bid to reconnect with its rich history, Harley-Davidson has announced an exclusive run of special-edition models dubbed the Icons Collection, starting with the 2021 Electra Glide Revival.

The Icons Collection will be an annual program that offers extremely limited-edition models that revisit classic Harley-Davidson design themes, or explore ideas that depict future motorcycle style.

Harley-Davidson will present one or two Icons models each year, with a single production run for each bike in the collection. Harley says that production of each model will never be resumed or repeated, with each unit serialised and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Marking the debut of the Icons Collection is the Electra Glide Revival model, a retro-classic that will be limited to just 1500 examples worldwide.

The Electra Glide Revival is a throwback to the 1969 Electra Glide

The Electra Glide Revival is inspired by the 1969 Electra Glide, which was the first Harley-Davidson model available with an accessory ‘batwing’ fairing. It is powered by Harley’s Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-twin engine, which puts out 158Nm at 3250rpm.

In accordance with the bike’s nostalgic design, the Electra Glide Revival features a colour scheme inspired by the original 1969 model, as well as a solo saddle mounted over an adjustable coil spring and shock absorber, and various chrome parts that complete the old-school look.

Other features of the Electra Glide Revival include a modern chassis and suspension, a 6-speed ‘Cruise Drive’ transmission, electronic cruise control, an infotainment system with two fairing-mounted speakers, navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the full suite of Harley-Davidson safety features.

Expected to arrive at authorised Harley-Davidson dealerships in late April, the Electra Glide Revival will check in with a price tag of $40,495 ride away in Australia.
