To celebrate the launch of the new Harley-Davidson Vintage Bar & Shield helmet, Harley-Davidson Australia has teamed up with Australia’s edgiest street artists to create a unique collection of customised helmets, to be showcased at Mary’s Newtown in Sydney at an exhibition called, ‘For the Love of Lids’.
This exhibition brings together the works of 12 artists, handpicked by Harley-Davidson Australia, who have each applied their skills to the unique, new Vintage Bar & Shield helmet.
Using the Harley-Davidson Vintage Bar & Shield helmet as a blank canvas, For the Love of Lids features designs from a talent pool that includes the likes of distinguished tattoo artist Eddy-Lou, celebrated jeweller Sofia Fitzpatrick, illustrators Nanami Cowdroy, Blair Sayers, Mike Watt, Sindy Sinn, poster artist Ben Brown and eminent hairdresser Kym Rattenbury.
Part of the Harley-Davidson Genuine helmet range, the Vintage Bar & Shield helmet boasts a lightweight, fiberglass shell, double D-ring fastening system and a premium antimicrobial liner with faux leather accents.
David Turney, Parts, Accessories and General Merchandise Sales & Marketing Manager for Harley-Davidson Australia and New Zealand commented: Harley-Davidson is thrilled to have commissioned For the Love of Lids to launch our new lid, the Vintage Bar & Shield helmet.
“This unique collection of art reflects the personal style and creativity of the exhibiting artists to celebrate our iconic brand’s customisation legacy," he said. "It’s a special way to showcase the classic style and design of the Harley-Davidson Vintage Bar & Shield helmet."
The public exhibition will be held for ten days from November 20 to November 30 at Mary’s Newtown. Following the show, Harley-Davidson Australia will donate the proceeds of two major works to a prominent charity (charity to be announced closer to the date).
