Harley-Davidson has announced the winners of its latest customisation competition, Judgement Day III.
Brisbane-based Harley-Davidson dealer Morgan & Wacker took home the leading prize for ‘Best Overall Customisation’, with Fraser Motorcycles in both Sydney and Wollongong honoured in the ‘Best Paint’ and ‘Best Budget Customisation’ categories respectively.
Beating 38 entries from dealerships across Australia and New Zealand, Morgan & Wacker prevailed with its Hold Fast Fat Boy Lo which embraced the competition’s theme of freedom of expression and tattoo culture.
“Harley-Davidson has a rich culture of customisation; the brand sets the bar high, which means you’re competing with the best in the business,” said Morgan & Wacker General Manager Paul Lewis. “It’s truly a great honour to be crowned the king of customisation in this competition. The Judgement Day III award recognises the hard work and creativity we put into our customisation projects.”
Winning the Best Paint category was Wollongong-based Fraser Motorcycles with a bespoke paint customisation called ‘Woody’. The Softail Slim customisation features a two-tone brown and wood-styled, old-school paint scheme. The distinctive paint is complete with cartoon characters of Popeye and Woody Woodpecker on the fenders, as well as a pin-up girl tattoo on the tank.
Succeeding in the final category of Best Low Budget Customisation was Fraser Motorcycles in Sydney for its Rum Smuggler Softail Slim overhaul. Featuring a brown-leather solo spring saddle and matching genuine Harley-Davidson swingarm saddlebag, the design adopts a blacked-out, minimalist image. A traditional skull and crossbones fly on the bike’s tank and rear fender to add a suitable touch.
Entries were judged on originality, style and creativity of customisation, as well as the use of Harley-Davidson parts and accessories, including both cosmetic and mechanical upgrades, paint work and the cost of customisation.
“We would like to thank all the dealers and customers who entered Judgement Day III. The competition was extremely competitive this year, with every entry receiving exceptional scores,” said Adam Wright, Director of Marketing for Harley-Davidson Australia and New Zealand. “It is a testament to the creativity and workmanship of all our dealers that our judging panel were so tasked in arriving at a decision.”
