Harley-Davidson electric bike?

That’s the hint coming from the American company in a 15-second video that’s just been posted on YouTube. We’ll know all the answers in 24 hours

Harley-Davidson is about to unveil a new motorcycle, and in a short teaser video that’s just been uploaded onto its YouTube channel it sounds very much like the bike is being powered by the distinctive whirr of an electric motor as it cruises along Route 66.

The motorcycle in the video is too far away to make out any discernible design, but that’s superfluous at the moment compared to the spectre of a Harley-Davidson being pushed along by an electric motor – incongruous to the loud, brawny and powerful images that have been the hallmark of the company since day dot.

Yep, there’s something seminal happening, and Harley-Davidson’s language to describe what’s on the way goes like this: “There are milestones that change history – those pivotal moments where the future is defined. This is one of them.

“Just like this country, Harley-Davidson has reinvented itself many times in our 111 years. This is the next chapter of our journey. Whether you’re a rider or not, we’re inviting you to take part in the experience, and be there for this historic ride forward.”

‘Join us for the Ride’ is what Harley-Davidson is saying about the new machine, and all should be revealed sometime on June 19 in America. Of course, we’ll have all the information as it unfolds.

The Bikesales Network believes there may be a big Harley-Davidson ride planned for Route 66 later in the year. Could it be on the back of a lithium-ion battery?
