Halliday wins latest ASC battle

The 2015 Australasian Superbike Championship returned to Sydney Motorsport Park, with Yamaha's Cru Halliday claiming the overall

Kawasaki's Sean Condon and Yamaha's Cru Halliday shared wins in round three of the 2015 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park on Sunday, June 28, with the latter also celebrating his first round win.

Halliday went 3-1 across the two races to win the overall from championship leader Troy Herfoss (Honda, 2-4) and reigning title holder Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha, 5-2).

“After fighting arm pump at the last round, I really wanted to come out here and have a good weekend and get some momentum back but I never expected it to be this good," Said Halliday. "Winning on Saturday(In FX-Superbikes) lifted my confidence and then to go 3-1 on Sunday and pass the best guys was awesome.

“The team did a fantastic job with the bikes and a huge thanks to everyone at YRT. It’s an amazing feeling to get this win and it makes all the hours of training worthwhile."

Race one saw less than a second covering the first five riders, with Condon taking the win from Herfoss, Halliday, Glenn Allerton (Yamaha) and Maxwell. Jamie Stauffer (Honda), Mike Jones (Kawasaki) and Matt Walters (Kawasaki) rounded out the top eight.

Race two saw Condon out of calculations after a crash, while Allerton had a big 'moment' and settled on just getting himself to the finish line in eighth. That left Halliday to edge out teammate Maxwell by less than half-a-second to claim victory, with Jones third from Herfoss, Walters and Stauffer.

Maxwell has now trimmed Herfoss' lead to just 8pts (141` to 149), followed by Halliday (127), Allerton (117), Jones (114) and Condon (104).

In supersport, Rick Olson (Kawasaki) won all three races, with Brayden Elliot (Suzuki) now a 21pt leader in the standings over Troy Guenther (Kawasaki).
