Great Wall Motor has revealed more information of its new eight-cylinder tourer that is set to rival the iconic Honda Goldwing. The new GWM sub-brand debuted at the Auto China show in late April.
While finer details are scarce, the new GWM SOUO luxury motorcycle will be powered by a 2000cc flat-eight engine and driven by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with a reverse gear.
The bike is also loaded with tech, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen display which supports connectivity and over-the-air updates.
According to GWM, the new SOUO tourer will also have an electronic park brake with a “automatic” parking function and an “intelligent” voice control function, as well as a rear warning system and blind-spot detection. These radar-driven functions mean the bike will likely have an active cruise control system too.
The aluminium chassis and double wishbone front suspension set-up is quite similar to the Goldwing, while braking is handled by a four-piston Brembo set-up.
For long-distance comfort, the SOUO tourer also has 118L of storage capacity, a sound system with multiple speakers, heated grips and seat, and an electronically adjustable windshield and handlebar.
There is currently no word on a timeline for the new SOUO motorcycle, but more information from GWM is expected in the near future.
It is also unclear whether the bike will make its way to Australia, however, given GWM has a good presence Down Under, any local release would be well supported.
