The ham-fisted way the Western Australian government has introduced the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme, which is now coming on-line in January, 2013. We've heard boo apart from a few lines here and there for most of the year, and all the state's transport websites have just about been silent on the topic -- until now. You'd think the roll out of the new scheme would be seamless -- after all, WA has sat back and watched every other state and territory introduce LAMS over the last decade, starting with NSW in 2002.

An on-going one, really – why do vehicle registration and insurance costs apply to each vehicle, and not to each individual motorist? I mean, you can only ride or drive one bike or car at a time, right? Of course, no Australian state government would ever seek to address this – it’s one cash cow that’s so fat they’d never be able to squeeze it through the doors of the abattoir…
