The annual Conondale Classic once again took over the iconic Green Park in Conondale (Qld), with riders and spectators stepping back in time for a weekend of vintage bikes and on-track action.
Originally slated for the June long weekend, the Conondale Classic was rescheduled for October, resulting in perfect spring weather on the Sunshine Coast.
Almost 450 riders and over 800 spectators gathered at the popular circuit, with the campgrounds lined with some spectacular (and often rare) machinery.

On Saturday, the Shannons Show N Shine featured over 80 immaculate bikes, with Lex Taylor, Anthony Gunter, and Stephen Gall serving as judges.
When it was time to fire up the engines and get riding, the action was split between the MXStore Pre-95 track and the Pre-78 Shannons track, giving riders of all ages and abilities the chance to bang 'bars and show off their vintage treasures.
There was also a grass track, a flat track, a trials course, and some enduro loops to cater for dirt bike riders of all disciplines and abilities.
“The tracks were perfect, the enduro loops were the best ever and everything else was excellent,” said Richard, one of the many punters at Green Park.
Hughan Seary of Ellaspede and Dust Hustle fame agreed. “If you’ve got an old dirt squirter, it’s the best riding weekend of the year,” he exclaimed. “No pressure, great people and laid back laps at possibly the best vintage venue in Australia. Classic Weekend is such a good time even Suzuki owners looked like they were having fun!”
One highlight of the weekend was the raffle of a restored Suzuki RM250, as well as a range of Ballards products, signed Classic Weekend posters, Pirelli tyres, TCX boots, Motul oil packs, and an XRs Only jersey signed by Geoff Ballard.
There was also plenty of action once the riding stopped, with the Young Henry’s bar proving popular and local band Eighties Recall keeping the party going well into the night.
The weekend acts as a fundraiser for the Sunshine Coast Motorcycle Club and it once again proved to be full of energy and great spirits. The event is scheduled to return to its traditional slot next year, with June 9-11, 2023, officially in the calendar.
