The Australian Grand Prix Corporation has announced that local Phillip Island charity, You Are My Sunshine Foundation, has been selected as the official charity of the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix for the second year running.
You Are My Sunshine Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation raising funds for research to find a cure for Neuroblastoma, a deadly cancer affecting children below the age of five.
The organisation was founded in 2009 by Phillip Island resident, Jude Donahoo, after her young granddaughter Kahlilla lost her battle with Neuroblastoma after almost 1000 days of treatment.
Jude Donahoo is overwhelmed by the ongoing support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and is delighted to be involved with the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
"The money raised from the 2012 MotoGP was able to fund close to a year of research into finding a cure for Neuroblastoma so having the chance to do it all again is truly heart-warming," said Ms Donahoo.
"This year Honda has kindly donated a beautiful CBR500R for our raffle, and we have many more exciting motorsport prizes that the fans can win during the event by donating to YAMS."
Over 100 volunteers are expected to be rattling tins at the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix collecting donations for You Are My Sunshine Foundation. All money raised during the event will go straight toward crucial research into Neuroblastoma to find a cure.
The patron of You Are My Sunshine Foundation is Mathew Le Nevez, who played Patrick on the Channel 10 program Offspring.
