This Easter will see owners of older motorcycles of all shapes and sizes descend upon Victoria’s State Motorcycle Complex at Broadford, approximately 70km north of Melbourne, for the Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza (HBBB).
The HBBB is a truly unique event, allowing owners of pre-1985 motorcycles to show off their machines and go for a friendly gallop around one of the complex’s many circuits. Road bikes, dirt bike, race bikes, production bikes, sidecars and everything in between – it’ll all be there to be admired and enjoyed.
This year’s HBBB will have a Honda off-road theme, with a special focus on Big Red’s XL, XR, MT, LT and TLR models in the Speedway Hangar. The ‘vinduro’ (vintage enduro) scene is thriving these days and Honda XRs in particular are a big part of it – this year’s HBBB will give fans an opportunity to admire Honda’s red sleds in all their glory.
A replica (with the original seat and tank) of Steve Chapman’s Honda XR600 1985 Wynn’s Safari-winning bike will be there, as will Steven Greenfield’s 1999 Australian Safari winner and many other stunning, historically significant examples.
The 2013 Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza will take place over the weekend of March 30-31. Rider entry is $80 by March 8 or $100 on the day, while spectators are in for $25 for one day or $40 for both. Camping is $10 per head per night and a Motorcycling Australia single-event recreational licence is $20. For more information and a registration form visit www.ma.org.au
