One of Australia’s most storied and successful off-road racing teams – GHR Honda – is calling it a day. Veteran racer and team manager Glenn Hoffman is shutting the doors to pursue other interests, and the offset benefit of this is you can secure a piece of history with your very own GHR racebike.
Hoffman is selling off the team’s assets, so if you’re after serious bragging rights the next time you’re on the trail, read on.
GHR’s record in the ball-tearing Finke Desert Race is a pretty envied one, and Hoffman is putting up the team’s Finke Honda CRF450R bikes ranging from the 2011 to 2014 model years. Prices for these weapons start at $9800 and come slammed with go fast and go faster bits, lots of which are one-off parts you won’t find anywhere else.
The pick of the bunch though, must go to the Dakar-spec Honda CRF450X bikes. These things have won the Australasian Safari on numerous occasions but Hoffman is selling them as the ultimate adventure tourer – the list of bits is pretty mouth-watering, but there’s no quoted price.
From the GHR press release: "These bikes deliver supreme confidence without the unnecessary complexity of fuel injection, the security of kick-start backup and long range tanks, superb stability delivered by a lengthened swingarm and specially-tuned suspension, all capped off with proven engine reliability. These bikes come with fresh engines built with a new three-ring wide skirt piston, piston rings, gudgeon pin, clips, crankshaft, main bearings, and steel intake valves for low oil consumption and long service life. All you need to do is get on and ride!"
If all this doesn’t get you going and you fancy yourself against Troy Bayliss, you could pick up one of the team’s supermoto CRF450Rs and Xs, laced with goodies. GHR also have other variants and parts for supermoto CRFs, so if you’re keen on this or any other bikes, click here for more information: http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=f94ffd85f27fe34824e0054b9&id=963fa8daa6&e=3a5d8cbbaf
