This year’s Moto Expo Melbourne will host the inaugural Crumpy’s City Slide, a non-competitive event which encourages members of the public to get their bikes sideways on a purpose-built flat track at Melbourne Showgrounds over November 23-25.
Open to all genres of motorcycles, riders must be fully licensed to participate in the unique event which is limited to just 200 participants. The event will kick off at 4pm on Saturday, November 24, will run through to 8pm and, while the Moto Expo exhibition will close at 6pm, Crumpy’s City Slide will offer food, live entertainment and a licensed bar through to its 9pm closing time.
“City Slide brings public participation to flat track,” Crump said. “I’m going to bring my slider and I know some of my mates are going to come and take part.”
Sponsored by Royal Enfield, riders or attendees who are in the City Slide Hall after 6pm can register to go in the draw to win a Royal Enfield Classic 350, with the winner announced at 8am. If the winner isn’t present at the time of the draw, it will be redrawn until one is found.
Promoter of the Moto Expo event, Troy Bayliss, said the response to the idea had been excellent, and he was looking forward to the query addition to the show.
“We flagged the idea with some of our exhibitors and the response has been incredible,” the three-time WorldSBK champ said. “Some manufacturers are bringing out bikes just for this event, others are dusting off bikes from the back of their warehouses, mix that with some crazy general public bikes and it is going to be a great spectacle.
“I haven’t decided what I’m going to ride yet, but it’ll definitely be something fitting.”
