FZ6 Masters back in 2009

Reprieve for the stand alone class

The Yamaha FZ6 Masters series will now return as a support class in the 2009 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), but it's only just been given the green light.

The class, which debuted in 2007, was not mentioned in the original ASBK supplementary regulations released on January 9 (here), but with the reprieve will now be seen at the following rounds:

Symmons Plains, Tas, April 3-5
Queensland Raceway, Qld, May 29-31
Eastern Creek, NSW, August 7-9
Calder Park, Vic, Nov 12-15

Symmons Plains will be stand alone FZ6 event, while the remaining rounds will share track time with the newly introduced Women's national series.

The FZ6 riders will also be able to cross enter for the Superstock 600 class, which has Australian championship status in 2009.

Customers wishing to compete in the FZ6 Masters Series can purchase a fully kitted FZ6N racebike for the subsidised price of $10,600.

These units are available from the Yamaha Racing Team (YRT). The contact is John Redding, tel (03) 9761 5871 or emailyrd@bigpond.com.

A limited number of second-hand units are also available from the YRT.
