Honda has claimed the number one spot for motorcycle sales for 2007, retailing a total of 32,946 units, according to figures released by the FCAI.
It was a record year for Honda as well as for Australia with the total market experiencing a growth level of 9%. Honda says its business grew by approximately 6.7%.
"We are really pleased with the result considering the tough level of competition in the industry," said Honda's Tony Hinton.
The firm claimed top spot in a number of categories, including: ATV (TRX350TM), Road Bike (CT110X), Scooters (Today 50), Sports Touring (CBR1100X Blackbird), Super Sport (CBR1000RR Fireblade), Supermotard (XR400M), Farm (CTX200) and Trail (CRF230F).
Despite the introduction of more open rules for learner bikes, the CBR125 and CBF250 both proved to be strong sellers.

Yamaha has decided to keep going with the popular FZ6 Cup, a one-model racve series that follows the national road race cicuit.
Promoter Terry O'Neill said, "The first year of the FZ6 Cup in 2007 provided some of the most thrilling races at the ASC, with Josh Houwen emerging as one of Australia's hottest race prospects. There was also plenty of biff and barge all the way down the field, especially from the unofficial 'Journo Cup' as some of our top motorcycle scribes went bar to bar to see who is the fastest on the track."
Here is what Yamaha promises as part of the package:
