From chasing criminals to chasing borders: Brian Rix’s extraordinary life on two wheels

Rix is the guest on the second episode of the new bikesales motorcycle podcast, Inside the Helmet, where he tells Dylan Ruddy about his lifelong passion for motorcycles, his career in policing and the adventures that followed.
During his time with Victoria Police, Rix was involved in some of the state’s most high-profile criminal investigations before eventually trading the world of crime scenes and detectives for life on the road.
Alongside his wife Shirley, Rix embarked on a series of motorcycle adventures that took the couple around the world. Their travels have since been documented in three books, adding another chapter to a remarkable life spent on two wheels.
Rix has also remained heavily involved in the motorcycle community, including playing an important role in the Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance.
The annual event sees motorcyclists ride in honour of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and has become an important fixture on the Australian motorcycle calendar.
