Four new Kymco models headed for Oz

A brace of innovative new scooters are headed our way…

Kymco has revealed four all-new innovative scooters for the 2021 model year. As well as a modern small-capacity commuter, there’s an electric-powered machine, a dual-sport-style offering and a three-wheel leaning model all headed for Australian shores.

The electric-powered F9 (below) uses a 12.8hp (9.4kW) motor matched to a two-speed automatic transmission which Kymco says improves power delivery and the efficiency of the motor. Weighing just 107kg, it boasts acceleration figures 0-50km/h in three seconds, has a top speed of 110km/h and a range of 120km.

The battery forms a load-bearing member of the chassis, the whole shebang rolls on 14-inch wheels and, with a fast-charger, the scoot can be recharged in two hours.

The DT X360 is powered by a liquid-cooled 320cc engine and is what the firm is calling an “adventure maxi-crossover”. With its beak-style front fairing, dual-sport rubber and upright ergonomics, the DT X360 should feel as at home on a gravel road as it is on a sealed one.

Weighing 194kg (kerb, claimed) and producing 28.8hp (21.2kW) of power and 30Nm of torque, it rolls on a 14-inch wheel at the front matched to a 13-inch wheel at the rear. Tech-wise, it employs a keyless ignition and full-colour LCD dash (below).

What initially appeared as a concept three years ago at the EICMA motorcycle expo, Kymco’s first three-wheeled leaning scooter has made it to production with plenty of modern tech. As well as ABS and traction control, the 550cc CV3 boasts cruise control, full LED lighting and a keyless ignition.

The 550cc parallel-twin engine makes 51.7hp (38kW) of power at 7500rpm and 53Nm torque at 5750rpm.

Finally, the compact and sporty KRV is powered by a liquid-cooled 175cc single and features a flat-floor fairing design. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a belt drive, allowing it to claim being the world’s first compact scooter to boast a swingarm which is independent of the engine.

Pricing will be confirmed for all four models closer to their local arrival in 2021.
