Ford Dale will join the Motorex KTM squad for 2014, riding a KTM450SX-F in motocross and supercross competition.
Hailing from Alexandra Headlands in Queensland, Dale will fill the seat left vacant by 2013 Australian MX1 runner-up Todd Waters, who will go world championship racing next year.
“It’s awesome to do this deal. I haven’t ridden KTM since I rode the first ever KTM60, and I hadn’t ridden one since, so I’m so pumped to be part of the best team on the circuit,” said Dale. “It seems to be the team moving forward and I’m pumped to be a part of it. I’m also pumped to be back in MX1 again and I’m definitely there to win.
“I believe in the program I’m doing and winning is the main goal. I had my first ride on the bike recently and I love it.
Dale was a Honda rider in 2013, but missed a large chunk of the season after damaging both the ACL and MCL ligaments in his left knee in May.
“I’m in probably the best shape I’ve ever been in right now. I sat down after the injury and made a plan from June until January with structured training, and I’ve been working hard with my trainer since June.”
Dale, 25, will be reunited with former teammate Kirk Gibbs at KTM, with whom he rode alongside in MX2 competition in 2011. His first official race appearance for the team is scheduled to be on February 8, 2014 at round one of the New Zealand MX Championship.
