May the fourth be with you! The Star Wars universe is full of iconic characters who have been played by some of the greatest actors to grace our screens. And, while motorcycles only exist as hoverbikes (known as speeder bikes) in the galaxy far, far away, some of the actors have a passion for two-wheels back here on earth. Here are five Star Wars actors who ride motorcycles...
Perhaps the most well-known motorcyclist in the Star Wars universe, McGregor is famous for his role as Obi Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel series. Off the back of his Star Wars fame, the Scottish actor joined friend Charley Boorman on a round-the-world motorcycle trip which was documented in the hit television series Long Way Round. He has since made two more Long Way installments with Boorman, and is currently a Moto Guzzi ambassador.
The actor who played Anakin Skywalker and his evil alter-ego Darth Vader in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith is also known to have an interest in motorcycling. In a recent interview with McGregor, Christensen spoke of the first time they rode together. He also said in the interview that “I don’t really like motorbikes, but I love dirt bikes”.
The name might not be familiar to many casual Star Wars fans, but his character is arguably one of the most important in the series. He played the masked bounty hunter Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, but he also starred as the army of clones that were created with Jango’s DNA. Prior to Star Wars, the New Zealand actor shot to fame in the iconic Kiwi gangster flick, Once Were Warriors. The NZ Herald once revealed that Morrison bought a Harley-Davidson to emulate his uncles, however he crashed in 2003 and suffered a broken leg.
This man needs no introduction. The role of Han Solo kick-started a decorated career that includes acclaimed roles in Indian Jones, Blade Runner, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger just to name a few. He reprised his role as Solo in The Force Awakens, and more recently has starred as Jacob Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel, 1923. Ford has a keen interest in aviation but is also know to count motorcycling as a hobby. His collection includes a BMW R 1200 GS and a 1993 Triumph Daytona 1200.
Hailing from Ireland, Neeson only starred in one Star Wars film – The Phantom Menace. Other key films that he starred in include Schindler’s List, Michael Collins, Gangs of New York, and Love Actually. More recently, he has starred in action thriller Taken and religious epic Silence. Like many of the names on this list, motorcycling is very much a personal affair for Neeson. However he did speak on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2015 about a collision with a deer while riding his Harley-Davidson.
