The seventh and final round of the 2010 Australian Superbike Championship at Symmons Plains in Tasmania has now been put back a week to November 12-14.
The date change has been initiated by V8 Supercars Australia, with the organisation keen to avoid a date clash with the popular Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, which is also telecast by its broadcast partner, Channel Seven.
Only superbike, superstock 1000 A & B and supersport riders will compete at Symmons Plains, which is one of two rounds in 2010 where the motorcycle fraternity will be on the undercard to the V8 Supercars paddock. The other is Phillip Island from September 10-12.
Meanwhile, transport and logistics company, Viking Group, is the new naming rights sponsor for the Australian Superbike Championship, replacing Woodstock Bourbon.
“I have always been an avid fan of motorcycling and motorcycle racing,” the director of Viking Group, Steve Iliopoulos said. “Viking’s business has grown considerably in the past five years and we now cover a broader range of transport, distribution and warehousing solutions and can cater for new business.
“By securing the naming rights to the Australian Superbike Championship we endeavor to reach new clients and attract further business, all while we enjoy a sport that everyone at Viking is passionate about."
