Dean Ferris continued his sensational start to the 2017 MX Nationals with another dominant display at round three of the championship on Sunday, May 7, held at the picturesque Conondale circuit on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Mounted on his CDR Yamaha YZ450F, Ferris unleashed a near perfect performance to win both MX1 motos and increase his lead in the championship to 31 points (216 to 185) over KTM's Kirk Gibbs.

“It was pretty much the perfect day from me,” Ferris said. “I love riding this track and I reckon I raced with a smile on my face all day long. Tracks like this suit the way I ride and I enjoy the flowing turns, the hills and the jumps here. It’s just a really cool track to ride.
“Conondale is also special to me as it was the place I won my first ever National moto back in 2007 when I raced the MXD class, so to win here again 10 years later and again be on a Yamaha is pretty cool and something I was thinking about when I was riding.
“Thanks to my mechanic Aiden for all his hard work as well as everyone on the CDR Yamaha team as it continues to give me everything I need to ride well."
Meanwhile, Gibbs went 2-2 at Conondale, while Todd Waters (Suzuki, 3-4) was third overall from Nathan Crawford (Kawasaki, 9-3) and Kade Mosig (Yamaha, 4-7).
Mosig is third in the championship on 170 points from Waters (166) and KTM rider Luke Styke (157).
In the MX2 class, Mitchell Evans (Yamaha) won both races and now leads the championship.
