It was yet another MX1 round victory for CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris when round eight action for the 2017 Motul MX Nationals was held in Port Macquarie on Sunday, July 30.
Ferris' double win for a perfect haul saw him move along to 562pts in the 10-round championship, well ahead of KTM's Kirk Gibbs (487) and Yamaha's Kade Mosig (436).
Todd Waters (Honda, 421pts) is next in line after he finished second overall in Port Macquarie, with his teammate Luke Clout in third from Brett Metcalfe (Kawasaki) and Mosig.
Ferris' two wins continued a stunning season that shows no signs of tapering.
“The feeling of winning doesn’t wear off: it feels just as good every time. I love it, as this is what I work for,” Ferris said.
“I was thankful that I could get some good starts and be quick in those first couple of laps. The track today was awesome, and it was nice to have a new venue on the calendar.
“At the moment I’m just doing my thing and taking it one race at a time. I definitely couldn’t slack off today, and it was awesome to share the podium with Luke (Clout) who got his first MX1 podium, and also Todd who belongs up here.”
The 2017 Motul MX Nationals continues in Toowoomba (Qld) on Sunday, August 13.
