The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) is encouraging the safe use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) via an updated online hub.
FCAI-affiliated manufacturers no longer supply ATVs to the Australian market due to stringent safety regulations implemented in 2021. However, they remain committed to rider safety and responsible ATV use.
Manufacturers such as Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Polaris withdrew their four-wheel ATV products from the Australian market in 2021 after roll bars and strict stability testing became mandatory for all quad bikes.

These brands questioned the effectiveness of the regulations and agreed with the FCAI that proven measures such as mandatory helmet use, rider training and law enforcement were the best approaches to protecting ATV riders.
The updated online ATV safety hub now sits on a dedicated page within the FCAI’s Side-by-Side Safety website and provides digital training courses, safe riding videos and other vital safety materials to help inform riders and keep them safe.

“The safe use of all-terrain vehicles remains an ongoing priority for our members,” said FCAI chief Tony Weber.
“While the industry has transitioned away from supplying ATVs to the Australian market, our commitment to rider education and harm prevention continues.
“Whether you are an experienced rider or new to off-road vehicles, these training tools and safety videos are a valuable resource. We encourage all riders to visit the site and take advantage of the materials available.”
