The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) has released a new report detailing the prime issues it believes will have an impact on the Australian motorcycle industry over the next few years.
Motorcycling in Australia: Directions for the Motorcycle Industry 2014-2016 was unveiled on Friday, November 15, at the opening of the 2013 Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show.
The report’s release coincided with the FCAI’s unveiling of its new code of practice for members’ dealers governing the sale of new or used motorcycles at the point of sale. The 14-page Motorcycling in Australia report outlines discourses concerning transport policy and urban planning, energy efficiency and emissions policies, motorcycle safety policies and programmes, motorcycle safety perceptions, the support and promotion of motorcycle sport and recreation, recreational off-road licencing and designated land use, design standards and new technology, and industry relationships.
The report also highlights the importance of the Australian motorcycle industry, which employs around 15,000 people and contributes $3.6b to the national economy.
The report concludes with a summary of the FCAI’s stance on each of the pertinent issues and its commitment to addressing these issues in the best interest of the wider motorcycle industry.
