Mr Tony Weber has been appointed the new Chief Executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), Australia’s peak body for the automotive industry, including motorcycles.
Weber replaces Ian Chalmers, who was only appointed to the position himself in September, 2011.
Weber has a strong background in government having worked in numerous Commonwealth Departments, plus appointments to several key taskforces including the Productivity Commission.
He joins the FCAI from the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education where he has held many senior positions including most recently, Acting Head of the Innovation Division.
“We are delighted Tony has decided to join the FCAI team to continue the Chamber’s work in building constructive and productive relationships with governments, industry and other stakeholders” said Bob Graziano, President and Chairman, FCAI.
“We congratulate Tony on his appointment and we look forward to Tony working with our Members to grow the automotive sector and ensure local manufacturing remains viable in Australia.”
Mr. Weber will commence his official duties as of September 10, 2012.
Australia’s major motorcycle and ATV importers are members of the FCAI, including Kawasaki, Honda, Kymco, Yamaha, BRP Australia, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad, John Sample Group and NF Importers.
Only last week, the Bikesales Network reported that Cameron Cuthill had replaced Rhys Griffiths as the motorcycle manager at the FCAI.
