Which region is the world’s biggest consumer of new motorcycles and scooters?
Not surprisingly, Asia-Pacific dominates the worldwide demand for new motorcycle sales, especially small and inexpensive hardware.
In fact, a staggering 82 per cent of all units sold worldwide in 2018 were from the Asia-Pacific, with India, China, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam the dominant markets.
It’s a little wonder that MotoGP and WorldSBK have recently added Thailand (and Indonesia soon for MotoGP) to their respective calendars, such is the importance of that region for so many motorcycle manufacturers, particularly the Japanese.
