World-renowned extreme enduro star Graham Jarvis will make his Australian debut on November 20 in the Wildwood Rock event in the Melbourne suburb of Tullamarine.
The 36-year-old, a former world number four in moto trials, is now widely recognised as one of the world’s best when it comes to extreme enduro competition, taking out the Red Bull Sea to Sky Extreme Enduro in Turkey last month. He is also a former Romaniacs winner and placegetter in the famed Erzberg event.
Jarvis (pictured) will compete at Wildwood on a Husaberg TE300.
“Coming to Australia is always something that I have wanted to do and this event looks like a big one,” Jarvis said. “I have watched videos and it looks as though the course isn’t too extreme, so I think it will be a challenge for me. I don’t know if there will be enough extreme parts for me to make the time up, but I look forward to it.”
The Wildwood Rock presents a unique challenge to competitors in the form of various natural and man-made obstacles including rocks, bricks, logs, balancing beams, tyres and even dismantled ute trays. The race will span over three hours.
The event has attracted the cream of Australia’s enduro riders, including 2010 winner Mitch Harper, Mathew Philips, Stefan Merriman, Glenn Kearney, Josh Green, Daniel Milner, Ben Grabham, AJ Roberts, Chris Hollis and Toby Price.
Hollis, the reigning Australian off-road champion, will be on debut for his new team KTM, while Price is coming off an excellent fourth place finish in the final round of the American Grand National Cross Country Series.
Gates to the event open at 8.00am, with the prologue commencing at 9.00am. The green flag for the main event will kick things of at 11.30am.
