The new Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman motorcycle adventure will premiere on May 9, with the pair confirming they will pilot vintage motorcycles through 17 countries across Europe.
Titled Long Way Home, the new series will stream on Apple TV+ and will reunite the same team that produced Long Way Round, Long Way Down, and Long Way Up. That team includes David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, while cameraman Claudio von Planta is yet to be confirmed.
In a 180-degree spin from the innovative electric motorcycle journey in Long Way Up, McGregor and Boorman will this time inject a little old-school spirit with a 1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado police bike (which McGregor has owned for a while) and what looks like a vintage BMW 75/5.
The new series will follow the now-iconic pair as they refurbish the bikes and travel from McGregor’s home in Scotland to Boorman’s home in England. And to make things interesting, they will of course be taking the…you guessed it…long way.
While the exact route likely won’t be revealed until the first episode lands, the trailer confirms that the pair will visit Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Switzerland, and France. A quick look at the map suggests that Finland, Poland, Czechia, Germany, and Austria will also be involved.
The Long Way franchise has been an unprecedented success since McGregor and Boorman first rode their BMW 1150 GSs around the world in 2004, and it has inspired countless riders to try their hand at adventure motorcycling.
Long Way Home will hit Apple TV+ on May 9, 2025.
