Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are saddling up for another Long Way adventure, this time with vintage motorcycles.
Apple TV+ has officially ordered a 10-episode series starring McGregor and Boorman, with both also serving as executive producers. Long-time collaborators David Alexanian and Russ Malkin will also return as executive producers and directors.
The new series will follow a similar style to McGregor and Boorman’s previous work, including Long Way Round, Long Way Down, and Long Way Up.
Apple has confirmed that the new journey will take place in Europe, while a press photo shows the pair sitting on McGregor's 1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado police bike and what looks to be a vintage BMW boxer-powered machine.
While the new series is yet to be officially named, a quote from McGregor hinted at a possible title of Long Way Home.
"On a rather tricky, sandy bit of Long Way Up, Charley and I started to daydream about another trip to keep our minds off the scary road at hand!" said McGregor.
"This is that trip. Rusty old bikes and 10,000 miles of Scandinavia, and Eastern and Central Europe. A big loop from my house in Scotland to Charley’s house in England. Long way home … magic."
Boorman hinted at a European adventure during an interview with bikesales in 2020. He also suggested the idea of a journey from London to Australia.
"Riding from London to Australia would be fun. I’d love to do that with Ewan," said Boorman. "And then Scandinavia is a beautiful place – so you go to Holland, and up through Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and then back down to Poland."
This new journey will be a little closer to home for the duo, with previous Long Way adventures including a circumnavigation of the globe, a trip from Scotland to South Africa, and a trek from Tierra del Fuego to Los Angeles.
The most recent series, Long Way Up, was also produced by Apple and saw the team tackle South and Central America on electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire’s.
McGregor is best known for his work in blockbuster films such as Star Wars and Trainspotting, but his first Long Way Round journey with his pal Boorman aboard BMW R 1150 GS’s earned rave reviews from critics, casual viewers, and motorcyclists alike.
A release date for the new show is yet to be announced.
