Electric Stark wins British Arenacross title

Riding an Stark electric motocross bike, British rider Jack Brunell has clinched the seven-round 2024 British Arenacross Championship against a competitive field of petrol-powered motocross bikes, an achievement Stark says is a world first.

Racing for the Stark Future Racing Team – which also secured the series’ Manufacturer’s Championship – Brunell entered the final round of the series with a 12-point advantage over
Harri Kullas, who was sidelined after a crash out of the lead in the penultimate round. He also finished 22 points clear of teammate, Justin Bogle.

With double points on offer for the final round at London’s Wembley Arena, a third-place finish in the Pro main event was enough secure Brunell the silverware, a win which he dedicated to his father who passed away in 2020.

“After our first win in Belfast, I showed everyone what the bike was capable of,” Brunell said.

“Coming to the final round in London was very stressful and I felt the pressure, but I and the team managed to do it – yes.

“This is for you dad, and for everybody else who has worked so hard for this.”

Brunell’s Stark Future Racing Team teammates Bogle and Eddie Wade finished the championship in sixth and 16th respectively.

The CEO and founder of Stark Future thanked Brunell, the series, and the UK’s governing body, pointing out how the Varg motocross machine isn’t yet allowed to enter other internal-combustion-oriented series’ elsewhere in the world.

“We couldn’t have dreamed for more,” he said. “We would like to thank Arenacross and the ACU for their continued support; despite our extensive efforts, certain federations worldwide still restrict the Varg from competing on equal terms with combustion bikes.”
