Imagine walking out to your shed to find someone had done this to your shiny new sportsbike.
It may be seriously ugly, but this electric-powered R1 is also fairly quick, according to builders Richard Hatfield and Todd Kollin of Electric Motorsport of Oakland, USA.
Weighing in at a claimed 181kg, the machine employs 28 Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries which are lighter and more powerful than the lead-acid equivalents.
The makers say the bike is good for 150km/h, will get to 100 in under five seconds and will travel about 80-120km between charges.
One catch is the conversion is hideously expensive – around $US18,000.
The company also makes an electric supermotard (also pictured). Check out Electric Motorsport’s website
