Zero Motorcycles continues to expand its electric footprint, using the world’s biggest motorcycle fair in Milan to not only announce additions to its current families but also a new off-road ‘X’ line.
The first models to make up the Californian manufacturer's X family are the Zero XE and XB, which have removable batteries, switchable traction control and a forged aluminium frame.
In terms of performance, the XE is the flagship, weighing in at 101kg – commensurate with a 250cc motocrosser – and equipped with a removable 4.3kWh battery. It has 15.5kW permanent magnet motor with 635Nm of torque. Range is about 100km.
There are three riding modes, final gearing adjustability, a hill hold mode and a tip-over sensor which cuts out the motor in the event of a crash.
Suspension travel is 215mm at the front and 248mm at the rear, and the seat height is 900mm. Wheel sizes are 21/18-inch.
Meanwhile, the XB’s fun tickets are bundled into a featherweight 63kg package with a 2.3kWh battery. The motor delivers 373Nm of torque, and it also has customisable rider modes.
The accessibility continues with a lower seat height (832mm) and 19-inch wheels. The XB also has less suspension travel than the XE.
At EICMA, Zero also presented the 2025 premium street and adventure machines with new colours and an expanded accessories list.
The current Zero Motorcycles Australia range comprises nine models, but no word yet on whether the XE and XB will be joining them.
