EICMA: Suzuki GSX250R

A new entry-level sportsbike with the famous GSX-R moniker, which will go on sale locally in the second quarter of 2017

Suzuki's seemingly had enough of the Yamaha YZF-R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 dominating the small capacity sportsbike sales race in Australia, and its response is emphatic in the form of the parallel twin GSX250R unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan this week.

Using the engine found in the Inazuma naked, the GSX250R's camshaft profile, according to Suzuki, has been tuned to "deliver maximum acceleration performance at riding speeds between 20km/h to 90km/h". Makes sense, as that will be the range for most riders who purchase the entry-level machine.

There's a two-into-one exhaust system, a full LED multifunction instrumentation, LED taillight, 10-spoke 17-inch cast-alloy wheels, anti-lock braking, and clip-on handlebars. The seat height is 790mm.

The GSX250R is expected to arrive in Australia during the second quarter of 2017, available in Pearl Black or Metallic Triton Blue. Price will be announced closer to launch.
