Honda unveiled the latest machine to spawn from its NC750 platform overnight, the headline-grabbing X-ADV adventure-styled scooter. And after being absent from any announcements issued by Honda Australia, when asked by Bikesales, the firm confirmed: “Australia won't be getting the X-ADV,” it said.
Powered by the NC750-derived 54hp (40kW) 745cc parallel-twin engine and matched to the same Dual Clutch Transmission found in up-spec versions of Honda’s CRF1000L Africa Twin among other bikes, the new 2017 X-ADV scoot weighs in at 238kg.
It rolls on wire-spoked rims, a 17-inch front and a 15-inch rear and shod with dual-purpose rubber, it boasts dual radial-mounted four-piston calipers at the front, a five-way adjustable touring screen and 21 litres of underseat storage.
Like most adventure-biased machines, it gains long-travel suspension, a tapered aluminium bar, plastic handguards as well as utilitarian styling in the form of aluminium covers and angular plastic bodywork.
And while Honda Australia has announced a return of the once-discontinued SH150 line to the Australian marketplace, the X-ADV won’t be coming to Aussie dealerships any time soon.
