Honda unveiled updated versions of both its naked CB650F and its fully-faired CBR650F counterpart at this year’s EICMA show in Milan.
The Japanese firm has coaxed an extra 4hp from the 649cc engine for 2017, though it’s likely to be of little use to Aussies as the bikes are only sold in restricted LAMS-approved form in the Australian market.
What will be useful for would-be 650 owners, however, are the upgraded suspension and brake packages. The front fork is now a 41mm Showa Dual Bending Valve (SDBV) affair which, despite what its name may suggest, is said to offer improved handling along with a more comfortable ride.
As for the brakes, improved twin-piston Nissan calipers are now complemented by a dual-channel ABS system.
Aerodynamics (on the CBR650F) have been improved with a revised fairing which is also said to channel more air into the now-hungrier airbox, the full-powered versions have a new claimed output of 89.8hp (67kW).
Both models will be available in Australia in matte gunpowder, metallic black, or millennium red.
