Ducati unveiled its biggest Multistrada yet this week when it premiered three new-for-2018 Multistrada 1260 models at the EICMA Show in Milan.
The Multistrada 1260 will be available in a standard and an S model, as well as a Pikes Peak variant. There was no news of the Enduro model, though, as is available in the current 1200 range.
Using a retuned version of the 1262cc V-twin engine which powers the firm’s XDiavel and boasting Ducati’s Desmodromic variable timing, the engine is said to be capable of 156hp and just over 129Nm of torque.
Electronics get a boost, too, with lean-angle sensitive ABS, self-cancelling indicators and back-lit switchblocks. There’s also switchable engine maps, hill-start assist and wheelie control.
Both the base and the S models use a top-shelf Sachs suspension package (the S gets the firm’s electronic DSS Skyhook set-up), while the Pikes Peak model gets Öhlins at both ends.
There’s a 48mm longer swingarm and an extra degree of rake (now 25 degrees) which results in a 56mm longer wheelbase now measuring 1585mm.
Despite the changes, dry weight remains unchanged for the both the standard model and the S at 209kg and 212kg respectively, while the Pikes Peak version loses two kilograms weighing in at 206kg.
Australian availability is around February/March 18, with no prices as yet.
