Honda has delivered a plethora of chassis, engine, tech and safety updates to its popular Africa Twin platform at EICMA 2026 – while also adding a new Enduro Sports variant for even more off-road aptitude.
As the inaugural winner of the bikesales Bike of the Year in 2016, Honda’s Africa Twin was one out of the box: a no-nonsense, extremely capable adventure bike with a sharp price point and the Japanese company’s renowned build quality.
But apart from sporadic updates over the last decade, including the introduction of a more touring-orientated Adventure Sports model to join the base model, major talking points have been few and far between – until now.

The new 2027 Africa Twin range is powered by a beefier 1131cc parallel twin, up from the current 1084cc iteration. Power and torque are 87.5kW (117.5hp) at 7500rpm and 119Nm at 5700rpm in the new displacement, so we’re talking serious gains on both performance fronts.
There’s also a newly designed frame and swingarm (which is 1.4kg lighter) and new dual headlights. The new models also feature a fuel sub-tank positioned beneath the seat for a lower centre of gravity and more obliging low-speed manners.
Honda’s also upped its sustainability credentials. The emblems, taillight, covers, brackets, windscreen and deflectors are all manufactured from recycled or biomass-based materials.

The base Africa Twin and Adventure Sports models have Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment semi-active suspension with Honda Skyhook technology to constantly optimise damping force.
The tech continues with a Honda smart key, while the Adventure Sports also has the option of Honda ‘Sensing Ride’ – the company’s new advanced safety and rider-assistive system.
Meanwhile, the Enduro Sports has front suspension commensurate with the CRF450 Rally used in the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship for more enterprising off-road performance.
No word yet on Australian availability and pricing for the 2027 Africa Twin range.
